I started playing NieR Automata these days and I have to say that it is quite impressive. The game feels good in general, it has good graphics, awesome gameplay, and a really good soundtrack.
Story
You get to experience the story of an earth that was invaded by aliens and they have released machines that should have killed all humans. Years have passed and making in an attempt to survive have colonized the moon to escape the machines. And finally, in the present, they have built many androids in order to eradicate the machines that were left on earth and find the aliens.
You play as 2B, a female android that is tasked to destroy a certain target. That’s how the story starts.
Why Is NieR Automata Underrated
Well, I came to the conclusion that no one from my friend’s list actually owns NieR: Automata. When I ask people about the game they say they never heard about it. So it’s pretty clear that at least in my circles and maybe even country, this game is not so popular. And I think I know the reason… at least on PC.
The PC version of the game is a port and of course like most ports… it was a pretty bad one. They fixed some of the issues, but some still remain. The game itself is still very good, but it can be a bit offputting if you can’t even reach 30 fps. As a fix, there is a mod called FAR and it allows you to tweak some stuff and solve some problems.
Another reason is that the game itself is quite hard. Like in Dark Souls you can’t save anywhere and if you die, you have to go to your body and retrieve some stuff. If you die while you try to do that, you can lose important items. Also, some bosses are really hard to beat.
Try The Mod And/Or Lower Difficulty
If you have issues with the FPS, don’t hesitate to try the FAR mod and if you just want to go through the story and have some fun, then you should definitely lower the difficulty. The game can get really tough if you are not paying attention. I lost all my modules because I accidentally went into a high-level zone and died. Really harsh stuff. In spite of these problems, I really like the game and I really enjoy the difficulty.
So I guess this game is not made for everyone, but it can still be considered a masterpiece.
