PUBG New Desert Map – Miramar
The PUBG New Desert Map – Miramar has made the game unrecognizable. I expected it to be a good update, but it did more than that. I was actually amazed the first time I played. The whole landscape looks desolate and dry with very little vegetation.
Design
The PUBG dev team now clearly has more experience regarding the map design. They have made it so you can walk great distances without being too exposed. There are many small depressions in order to give you some cover. There are some bigger areas where you can easily be exposed, but that usually is a problem only in the late game.
Another key part of the design is the ability to vault more easily. It seems that you can move more fluidly through the various obstacles around the map. Erangel (the first map) wasn’t really designed for vaulting, so it lacks a certain fluidity when it comes to vaulting.
The buildings and the main points of interest seem very detailed. It is clear that a lot of effort went into giving the player a story behind every place. You can also see that almost evey place on the map has a decent amount of loot. On Erangel you have a 2 or 3 places where you can really get geared. But on Miramar there are 4-5 and that is a good thing and a bad thing at the same time. It gives you more options, but there are less big fights over a certain area.
New Content
The PUBG new desert map also brings some new content. The main attraction in my opinion is the “hippie bus” as I call it. It is very slow, it has boost and it looks like the new meme of PUBG. I had a lot of fun driving it with my friends. One of us almost couldn’t breathe because of it. There is also a truck that should replace the UAZ and a Jet Ski which is also pretty fun to drive.
Regarding the weapons, the Win94 seems to be a fun weapon, but it is only good for the beginning of the game since it doesn’t allow you any attachments.
The R45 revolver seems to be a bit better then the normal revolver since you can load it up with a full pack of bullets. You don’t need to load them 1 by 1.
Performance
The performance of the game also seems to have been improved. Many users report a certain uplift in FPS on the new map and I suspect that it is mostly because of the new PUBG desert map. They have done a much better job this time.
Hopes
The official release of PUBG should come on 20th of December and I really hope that it comes at that date. I also hope that when it comes, the game will run smoothly and that there won’t be any more problems with the connection. Also check the new patch notes for the test servers. They have fixed some bugs and they also enabled the old map to be playable.
Some other good news is that if you want to test the map yourself, you can download the test server. It will be open until the 1.0 release.
