Since prices to memory and graphics cards have sky-rocketed lately, the best thing to buy right now is a gaming laptop. The prices have stayed mostly the same and you almost get a full PC instead of buying 1 or 2 graphics cards. I have found a good deal on Amazon and I think it’s decent enough.
ASUS GL502VM-FY497T ROG Strix (from 1349£ to 999£)
Performance-wise… this laptop is a beast. At least when it comes to 1080p gaming. It is capable of running most games on maximum details. So if that’s what you aim for, then it’s a very good deal.
Display
The display is advertised to have a 120 Hz refresh rate and it also has G-Sync, so you won’t see any screen tearing when you are gaming. E-sports games are surely capable of running at 120 FPS, so you will gain a certain advantage over your opponents. You might be capable to push 120 frames on more demanding titles, but you will probably have to reduce the graphics a bit.
For example, Fallout 4 is quite demanding and if you max everything out, you will not get over 60 FPS. PUBG is also a very demanding game, so don’t expect more than 70-80 FPS there either.
Battery
It is advertised to last 10 hours on average on one charge. But I’m pretty sure that is a bit optimistic. In any case, if you’re gaming on it, don’t expect more than a few hours. But if you’re just doing productive tasks like browsing, writing and reading, then it has a pretty good battery life.
Storage
The storage is also pretty balanced. You get a 128 GB SSD and a 1TB HDD which should be enough for all your game library and if you really want to, you can put a game or two on the SSD to load faster. Optionally, you might be able to buy a bigger SSD if the situation arises.
Final Thoughts
All in all this laptop looks promising. You get a decent battery life, great performance and also an awesome display with G-Sync and 120Hz at a good price.
