VRChat can be a really fun place. You can understand that just by looking at Ugandan Knuckles meme. The game has made it so popular that for a few weeks all I heard was “Do u kno da wey?”. Altough it is still very popular, I feel like it’s going to be forgotten soon. So let’s see how this meme came up.
The Character
The character first appeared as a twisted version of Knuckles (the red hedgehog from Sonic) on a popular youtube channel named Gregzilla.
This version of knuckles is called Ugandan Knuckles for 2 reasons. People tend to associate a line from a movie called Pretty Liars: “Why are you running” and it sounds a bit like an African accent. The other reason is that the followers of a very popular twitch streamer called Forsen kept ruining his PUBG games. They were calling themselves Ugandan warriors… so Knuckles is associated with this for some reason also.
Typical Catchphrases
The meme is mostly known for the catchphrase “Do u kno da wey?”, but also for “Why are you running?” and for making weird clicking noises as a way of communicating. People seem to also ask a lot about “da queen” because she supposedly “knows da wey”.
